Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina has launched a herbal medicine he believes can cure patients suffering from the novel corona virus.
Presented by the President, COVID Organics is a remedy developed by the Malagasy Institutes of Applied Research that contains Artemisia, a plant that was initially cultivated on the Big Island to fight against malaria. “All trials and tests have been conducted and its effectiveness in reducing the elimination of symptoms has been proven for the treatments of patients with COVID-19 in Madagascar,” said the president.
According to the president, the medicine had cured two corona virus patients and has been declared as mandatory for children going back to school. “The Covid-Organics will be distributed free of charge to our most vulnerable compatriots and sold at very low prices to other,” he continued. The president further explained that all profits would be donated to IMRA to finance scientific research.
President Rajoelina further stressed that the remedy will be used as preventative treatment although clinical observations have shown an effectiveness as a cure. However, clinical studies on the herbal remedy will continue.
As of May 3rd, Madagascar’s COVID-19 statistics stood at 149 cases with 98 recoveries and no deaths.
